How this calculator works
Every number here comes from Amazon’s own published fee schedule for the US marketplace, not an average or an estimate from a survey of sellers. The fulfillment fee is looked up from the weight-band and price-band tables Amazon publishes for each size tier, the referral fee is calculated from the category and price tiers Amazon has used since January 2024 (frozen through 2026), and the storage estimate uses Amazon’s per-cubic-foot monthly rate.
Type in your sale price, your landed product cost, pick a category and a size tier, and the tool runs the same math Amazon runs at checkout. Nothing you enter leaves your browser: there’s no server call, no file upload, no email required to see the result.
Two numbers you should sanity-check before trusting them for a pricing decision. First, Amazon adjusts individual product classifications and can move a listing between size tiers based on real measured dimensions, which this tool can’t see. Second, referral fee minimums and category boundaries occasionally shift outside the standard January refresh, so treat the output as a strong planning estimate, then confirm the exact fee for your ASIN inside Seller Central before you commit to a price.
How FBA fulfillment fees are set
Amazon prices fulfillment by size tier, weight and, for the two standard tiers, sale price band. A small item under a dollar in weight in the small standard tier at a $24.99 price point pays a different fee than the same item priced at $9.99, because Amazon splits standard-size fulfillment fees into three price bands: under $10, $10–$50, and over $50.
Size tiers, US marketplace
| Tier | Limits |
|---|---|
| Small standard | Longest side 15in or under, 16oz or under |
| Large standard | Longest side 18in or under, 20lb or under |
| Small bulky | Longest side 18–37in, or 20–50lb |
| Large bulky | Up to 50lb, larger than small bulky |
| Extra-large | Four weight bands: 0–50lb, 50–70lb, 70–150lb, 150lb+ |
| Overmax | Over 96in longest side or 130in length+girth: $17–$25 surcharge on top of the extra-large fee |
Since April 17, 2026, Amazon adds a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on top of every fulfillment fee at billing, which this calculator already includes. Apparel items carry roughly $0.40 more per unit than the equivalent non-apparel weight band, and every unit shipped between October 15 and January 14 picks up a $0.19–$0.29 peak-season surcharge. Both are optional toggles above.
Referral fee by category
The referral fee is Amazon’s cut of the sale price for the right to sell on the platform, charged as a percentage regardless of who fulfills the order. Most categories sit at a flat 15%, but a handful of categories are tiered by price or carry a different flat rate entirely. These are the rates the calculator uses:
| Category | Rate |
|---|---|
| Most categories (Home & Kitchen, Toys & Games, Sports & Outdoors, Office Products, Pet Supplies, Tools & Home Improvement, and others) | 15% |
| Amazon Device Accessories | 45% |
| Computers | 6% |
| Camera & Photo, Cell Phones & Accessories, Consumer Electronics | 8% |
| Automotive & Powersports | 12% |
| Baby Products, Beauty & Personal Care, Grocery & Gourmet Food | 8% at or under $10–$15 depending on subcategory, 15% above |
| Clothing & Accessories | 5% at or under $15, 10% from $15.01–$20, 17% above $20 |
| Furniture | 15% at or under $200, 10% above |
| Jewelry | 20% up to $250, 5% on the amount above $250 |
| Watches | 16% up to $1,500, 3% on the amount above |
Rates reflect Amazon’s published category referral fee schedule, unchanged since January 2024. A $0.30 per-item minimum applies in most categories. Amazon can adjust individual category rates at any time; confirm the exact rate for your ASIN’s category in Seller Central before finalizing a price.
What changed in Amazon’s 2026 fee schedule
Three changes matter most for anyone pricing a product in the US store this year. Amazon split the old large-bulky tier into small bulky and large bulky, which moved a lot of mid-size, heavier items into cheaper fulfillment bands than they sat in during 2025. Amazon also added the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge across every fulfillment fee starting April 17, 2026, which functions as a blanket fee increase even though the published base rates look similar to last year. And a new Overmax classification now catches anything over 96 inches on its longest side or 130 inches in length plus girth, adding a flat $17 to $25 charge that did not exist as a separate line before.
Referral fee percentages did not move. Amazon has kept category referral rates frozen since January 2024, so the swing in total cost per unit this year comes almost entirely from the fulfillment side, not the referral side.
FAQ
Does this calculator use real Amazon data?
Yes. The fulfillment fee tables and referral fee percentages are taken directly from Amazon’s published 2026 US fee schedule, not from a sample of listings or a third-party estimate. We link the underlying rate cards in the sections above so you can check the math yourself.
Why is my actual fee on Seller Central slightly different?
Amazon calculates your fulfillment fee from the exact measured dimensions and weight of the packaged unit sitting in its warehouse, which can round to a different weight band than the one you estimate here. If you’re borderline between two weight bands, use the heavier one to plan conservatively.
Does this include Amazon PPC or advertising cost?
Not by default, since ad spend varies enormously by category and competition. Use the “other cost per unit” field to add your average cost-per-sale from advertising once you know it, and the profit and margin figures will update to reflect it.
What’s the difference between margin and ROI here?
Margin is net profit divided by sale price. ROI is net profit divided by your product cost, which is the more useful number when you’re deciding how much cash to put into a purchase order, since it tells you the return on the capital you actually spent.
Is storage cost included automatically?
Only if you enter product dimensions. Amazon charges monthly storage per cubic foot of space your inventory occupies, not per unit sold, so we convert your dimensions into cubic feet and apply the current standard or oversize monthly rate. Leave dimensions blank to see the calculation without it.
Numbers say a listing should be profitable and it still isn’t?
That’s usually PPC efficiency, listing conversion, or account health dragging on a fine unit economics story. SellerPlex runs full Amazon accounts day to day and can tell you which one it is.
